Accessibility Statement
MeridianVocari is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement describes our current conformance level, known limitations, and how to contact us about accessibility issues.
Last reviewed: March 2026
Conformance Status
Partially Conformant — WCAG 2.1 Level AA
MeridianVocari partially conforms with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to address all known gaps.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. MeridianVocari is targeting full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Technical Specification
MeridianVocari relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.1:
- HTML5
- CSS3 (Tailwind CSS)
- WAI-ARIA 1.2
- JavaScript (React 19)
Accessibility Features Implemented
The following accessibility features are currently implemented across the platform:
A visible skip link appears on keyboard focus, allowing users to bypass repeated navigation (WCAG 2.4.1).
Semantic HTML structure
Pages use appropriate heading hierarchy (h1–h3), landmark elements (main, nav, footer), and list elements for structured content.
Keyboard navigation
All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields, and modals — are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
Focus indicators
Visible focus rings are preserved on all interactive elements. We do not suppress the browser's default focus outline.
ARIA labels and roles
Icon-only buttons and interactive controls include descriptive aria-label attributes. Dialog components use appropriate role and aria-modal attributes.
Colour contrast
Primary text and interactive elements meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required for normal text (WCAG 1.4.3). We are auditing remaining low-contrast elements.
Responsive design
The platform is usable at 320px viewport width and up to 400% zoom without loss of content or functionality (WCAG 1.4.10).
Form labels and error messages
All form inputs have associated visible labels. Validation errors are communicated via text, not colour alone.
Language declaration
The HTML lang attribute is set to 'en' on all pages (WCAG 3.1.1).
PDF accessibility
AI-generated PDF resumes include document titles and structured content. Full PDF/UA compliance is on our roadmap.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, there are some known limitations. We are actively working to address these issues:
Some low-contrast text on the homepage
In progressCertain secondary text elements on the dark-themed homepage sections use opacity values below the recommended threshold. We are reviewing and updating these in our next sprint.
Complex data visualisations
PlannedRadar charts on the Life Compass results page (built with Recharts) do not currently have full text alternatives. We plan to add a data table alternative view.
Timed assessment tasks
Partially addressedThe Life Compass assessment includes an optional timed task (90 seconds). A '+50% time extension' option is available. We are evaluating whether to make timing entirely optional.
Audio transcription feature
Alternative availableThe voice practice feature in Interview Prep requires audio input. A text-based alternative is available for all interview practice questions.
PDF export screen reader support
PlannedDownloaded PDF resumes are not fully optimised for screen readers. We recommend requesting the HTML version for screen reader use.
Assessment Approach
MeridianVocari assesses the accessibility of this platform through self-evaluation. We use automated tools (axe-core, Lighthouse) as well as manual keyboard and screen reader testing (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS). We intend to commission an independent third-party accessibility audit before our institutional launch.
